It replaces the AS9000 and incorporates the entirety of the current version of ISO 9000. The AS9102 standard provides the requirements for the performance of FAI. These are performed to verify that the initial production meets all of the design requirements. FAI should verify that the manufacturing planning is correct and contains activities of the right sequence with appropriate verification. This process applies to all levels of parts, ranging from castings and forgings, to machined items and full assemblies. Verification is performed by the supplier and includes the collection of appropriate quantitative data.
AS9100 includes extensive supplementations about design and development. Given the complexity of aerospace products and customer expectations on reliable performance, design outputs have been supplemented with identification of Key Characteristics. The different design and development tasks to be carried out shall be defined according to specified safety or functional objectives of the product in accordance with customer and/ or regulatory requirements.
