About Compaq Computer Corporation
Compaq Computer Corporation was an American personal computer company founded in 1982. Once the largest supplier of personal computing systems in the world, Compaq existed as an independent corporation until 2002, when it merged with Hewlett-Packard.
Over five years ago, a grant was issued to create an innovative product that was technologically beyond its time. The challenge was to design and build a holstering attachment to an existing Compaq PDA that would allow streaming video. To build the attachment: a holster, complex rigid board and flex circuit boards were to be designed and developed.
Cirexx Intl took the challenge and developed 200 of these units for Compaq. Each one of them allowed for an existing Compaq PDA to be connected to the camera device using a simple holster design. The plug and play device allowed the ordinary PDA to have video streaming functionality. This innovative design and build now resides in a tech museum.
